The every search engine even google has the two special programs one is Crawler and second in Indexer. The main job of Crawler to crawl the requested page and it crawls the pages through the hyperlinks which are associated with other sites that's why the link building is a better technique to get noticed your website by the google.
Whenever the crawler crawled the requested page the job of Indexer is begin. The Indexer index the page or website according to the rank of the website and stored it into the server.
This is the job of a Search Engine and it does not do any more task.

The Answer is google do not search websites for a particular keyword but it searches contents form the indexed file which is stored into the google's server that's why the google searches fast but this is not a single reason of fast searching by the google there are some other factors like google use the most efficient algorithms and data structures for fast searching and it has the more powerful servers where the index data is stored and also has the more powerful machines which processing power is more and more from our personal computer processing speed.
The above factors make Search engines more faster in search.
